Obtaining an Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID) Number

The Presidency of the Council of Higher Education has started a study in order to offer the publications prepared at universities to open access research service.

In this study, the necessity of using the Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID) number, which is available free of charge, has emerged to ensure the standardization of the data, and graduate students and all academics are required to obtain an ORCID number.

In this context, YÖK Executive Board, at its meeting dated 13.05.2020; It has been decided to make it compulsory for lecturers and graduate students to use Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID) numbers in the follow-up of graduate theses, articles, congress and symposium papers, books and all kinds of scientific publications.

Students will receive their numbers from the Thesis Data Entry Form (https://tez.yok.gov.tr/UlusalTezMerkezi/), Academics will receive their numbers from YÖKSİS (Personnel Transactions-Create CV-Personal Information-YÖK Academic).

In accordance with the above-mentioned decision, your Graduate students and all academics are required to obtain an Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID) number.
